Horseback Riding Vacations
Mountain Trail Ride
About a half hour drive from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, set in the beautiful
wilderness, sits High Meadows Ranch. This well appointed guest ranch brings
the almost unbelievable beauty of the Colorado Rockies right outside your door.
This horseback riding vacation is a wonderful step back in time to when one
of the most beautiful states in the nation was being settled.
You will ride through wilderness areas accessible to few travelers where you can see elk and mule deer, porcupines, eagles and hawks. You will travel along trails created thousands of years ago by the Ute Indians and used by trappers, mountain men and settlers. The paces along the trail are a mixture of walk, trot and canter depending on conditions. You will travel through meadows filled with wildflowers and lined by groves of Aspen trees whose leaves seem to dance in the wind.
The horses are of a western type and are ideally suited to mountain riding. The deep, comfortable seat of the western saddles give a quality ride in the undulating terrain of this mountain area. And if the riding gets to your muscles, you can take a soak in the Strawberry Park Hot Springs, an all-natural mineral bath.
Riders will have the opportunity to go fly-fishing in the crystal clear waters of Silver Creek where trout are abundant. If you enjoy fishing, or would just like to try it, this experience could spoil you.
You will also have a chance to experience that uniquely western tradition, the campfire cookout. Here, you will be entertained by one of the west's great campfire entertainers and storytellers.
While on the ranch, you will stay in a tastefully decorated lodge with private bath and some of the best views on earth. On your last night you will go into Steamboat Springs for sightseeing and shopping and to attend the PRCA Rodeo to see how the pros do it. On your last night, you will stay in a bed-and-breakfast in Steamboat Springs to be able to make your flight home.
